Bronze Her!

Today was the big day: the finale of the Girl Scout Bronze Award project at the dog kennels. We arrived about 10:30, we would have been a bit earlier but we hit a detour. Turned out that was fine, it was a small crew working there today (they had several no show volunteers) and they hadn't been there too long.

Violet and I set up the snack table:

There were a few other snacks brought by other volunteers too, but they complemented each other really well. Everyone liked Violet's food and even asked her to make more for their occasional bake sale fund raisers.

We did a little weeding in their gardens:

It was warmer today than predicted and very sunny. We all got hot really quick and there were a lot of breaks involved. It was a really laid back crowd which was nice. I didn't know what to expect. It was really good for Violet that they were so calm and slow moving and relaxed about it all.

When we left we stopped at McDonald's on the way home. Then when we got there, Mr. Incredible had a surprise waiting for Violet:

The card says "Congratulations on your Bronze Award!" and in the inside he wrote "We're so proud of you, Papa and Mama." Which we are. Her flowers smell as good as they look!

She did good. She held it together even when she was hot, tired, bored and really wanting to leave. She got past some of her shyness and reserves and talked to some of the volunteers. She helped out a lot. She definitely earned her award!

Congratulations to Violet on earning her award! That was quite an undertaking.

Violet is a very special young lady, and she is blessed to have such supportive parents.
